The iconic Bananimal Cracker pint is back and hitting shelves this Fall!
Righteous Gelato brings back Bananimal Cracker Gelato in partnership with the Calgary Zoo
The Calgary Zoo and Righteous Gelato have once again partnered to make sure that school is a little sweeter for Alberta’s students. As part of Righteous' commitment to invest 1% of their total revenue to organizations that enrich people’s lives, the team is bringing back Bananimal Cracker Gelato that will support the Calgary Zoo’s Outreach Education program. The banana and animal cracker gelato is a throwback to the partnership between the two organizations in 2013, “2 by 2 Rebuild the Zoo” when Righteous stepped up to help rebuild the zoo after devastating floods tore across Alberta. Fast forward to 2021, Righteous and the Calgary Zoo are once again partnering to help the zoo continue to deliver exceptional wildlife education programming.
“This partnership is near and dear to my heart. As a born and raised Calgarian, The Calgary Zoo was always a beacon of knowledge, happiness and education. Their commitment to inspiring an equitable conservation and education programming aligns with our commitment to work with organizations that leave this world a little better than we found it,” said James Boettcher, Custodian of Culture and CEO. “Bringing back Bananimal Cracker is so exciting for all of us, and to be able to play a small role in enriching the lives of kids and youth in Calgary is an honour for our entire team.”
The Calgary Zoo’s Outreach Education team is an award winning group of informal educators who spend every day inspiring the conservation heroes of tomorrow. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when it wasn’t safe for students to go on field trips, the Calgary Zoo worked hard to update its programs so they could bring the zoo to Calgary’s classrooms.
“As we are slowly returning to normal, the Calgary Zoo Outreach Education team is committed to supporting students and teachers by providing inspiring, curriculum-connected programming in whatever format works best for their classroom,” said Laura Glick, Manager of Outreach Education. “The support from Righteous Gelato will allow us to continue remotely connecting with students, and adapt our classroom experience for when it’s safe to welcome classes back to the zoo again.”
Pints of Bananimal Cracker are currently on shelves at all Calgary Coop and Sunterra locations as well, available online and at the Righteous Factory & Coffee Bar.
