Purpose

Righteous is redefining business.

PURPOSE: Our community commitment

At Righteous, we are committed to supporting organizations that share our mission of enriching people’s lives. Our giving is focused on four pillars: reducing poverty and food insecurity, creating opportunities for kids and youth, ending domestic violence, and investing in grassroots organizations that strengthen local communities.

We also provide paid volunteer time to every member of our team, empowering our Giving Gang to support these causes, along with the organizations and initiatives that matter most to them. Because when we all work together, we can leave the world a little better than we found it.

PEOPLE: Our culture commitment

Recognized as one of Canada’s top employers, culture is at the heart of everything we do at Righteous. Our number one priority is our people. We may make Canada’s #1 gelato, but we know it is our people who make that possible, not the other way around. We foster an environment that is welcoming to all, where people from every background are respected, valued and encouraged to show up as themselves. And because we’re human, we like to have a whole lot of fun along the way.

The perks are pretty sweet too: endless gelato, a β€œcome as you are” dress code, a world-class vacation policy, professional development opportunities and a trip to Italy after your seven-year anniversary. Yes, you read that right, Italy! Check out the core virtues that guide how we work, grow and make decisions every day.

PLANET: Our environmental commitment

We know that this is bigger than us. That’s why we choose to sell our gelato in sustainable packaging, source our ingredients as locally as possible, divert 95% of our waste away from landfill, and reuse water in our facility to heat and cool our equipment. All of the supplies used in our cafΓ© are compostable, and our suppliers and partners are carefully selected to ensure they meet standards that move us toward our net-zero goal.

Righteous is proud to be a Certified B Corporation. What does that mean? To use business as a force for good.

Through rigorous certification by the nonprofit B Lab, Certified B Corporations are for-profit companies who meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency in the world. By balancing purpose and profit, B Corps use the power of markets to find opportunities to solve social and environmental problems.

Righteous has always operated like a B Corp, long before it was ever certified as one. This helped uncover some of the β€œwhy” for going through the arduous process of certification. By becoming certified, it was our way of sharing with the community and encouraging other businesses to adopt similar practices and standards in the work they do. Why? Because doing it together makes a difference.
